About the program

What Is California MyFirstEV?

MyFirstEV is a California Air Resources Board program designed to make zero-emission vehicles more affordable for people purchasing or leasing a ZEV for the first time.

California is partnering directly with participating vehicle manufacturers. The manufacturer matches the state’s contribution, creating a combined point-of-sale incentive for eligible vehicles and consumers.

The incentive is intended to reduce the upfront cost of an eligible vehicle rather than requiring the customer to wait for a rebate after the purchase.

Program availability: Eligible manufacturers, models, trims and incentive availability may vary. Participating automakers will announce eligible vehicles as their MyFirstEV programs become available.

Consumer eligibility

MyFirstEV is designed for:

  • California residents.
  • First-time zero-emission vehicle buyers or lessees.
  • Consumers purchasing or leasing an eligible vehicle through a participating manufacturer.
  • Vehicles that will be delivered and registered in California.
  • Consumers who have not previously received a MyFirstEV incentive.

Each individual is limited to one MyFirstEV incentive for the lifetime of the program.
